The granite bedrock decomposes due to the freeze-thaw cycle and the effects of microbial life in the soil. This results in surface rocks and decomposed &laquo;granite sand&raquo;.<\/p>\n<p>These light, dry soils force the vines to send their roots down through the fissures in the bedrock in order to source water and mineral elements. This action naturally imparts a strong \u00ab terroir \u00bb effect on the wines.<\/p>\n<p>The soil also accumulates the sun\u2019s warmth during the day and radiates it at night, thus assuring optimal ripening of the grapes.<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to learn more about our Gew\u00fcrztraminer Grand Cru Frankstein with its delightful flower aromas and delicious spiciness.<\/p>\n<h2> GRAND CRU MUENCHBERG<\/h2>\n<p>is a marvel that cannot be categorized due to its geological formation and the unfathomable personality of the wines.<\/p>\n<p>Well off the beaten track, Muenchberg emerges in a woodland setting where time seems to be frozen. Protected to the west by the Ungersberg Mountain whose peak rises to over 900 meters, the south-facing vineyard hugs the hillside in the shape of a crescent moon.<\/p>\n<p>This is a terroir historically dedicated to Riesling; the conditions are ideal.
